Starting in New York you’ll have time to explore the city before boarding Amtrak for the journey to Washington D.C., the nation’s capital. See the White House, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial and more in this eminently walkable city. An overnight rail journey takes you to Chicago which sits on the shore of Lake Michigan. The 3-day California Zephyr is one of the most beautiful train trips in North America and travels through the plains of Nebraska to Denver, across the Rockies to Salt Lake City and then through Reno and Sacramento into Emeryville and then by coach to San Francisco. End your adventure with time in ‘the City by the Bay’.
